Chiagoziem was born in Lagos in 1997, but Enugu is where she became herself. Her parents gave none of their children English names. They spoke to them in Igbo. They shared folklore at bedtime. Her father kept a library full of Igbo literature, and she and her brother took turns telling stories to each other before sleep.
She was drawing before she could help it. On paper, on the table, on the walls of the house. Everyone who knew her could see it. When it came time for secondary school exams, she hadn't taken a single Fine Art class, but her parents convinced the principal to let her sit the WAEC exam anyway. She passed.
That settled it. In 2016, she enrolled at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to study Fine and Applied Arts. She graduated with a major in Fashion Design, but it was the Nsukka Art School tradition, the uli painters, the lineage of artists like Eziafo Okaro, that shaped how she sees the world.
